I saw that & changed it to Hartford vs Simpsonville since that's where I'm relocating to..The good thing is that the crime rate is much lower there than here....the bad thing was it was more than I expected. However God has opened these doors for me & I know that He's in control &Y will take care of it. : )

I was actually shocked to see Greenville with more assault, rape and burlary (And very close on murder and larceny.) when comparing Greenville proper to "big bad" Hartford proper!
I think I"m going to do my own comparison and take the adjoining cities of both and add them in. I know Glastonbury, Newington, Windsor etc have very very low crime rates. I'd be curious to see how a "mini-metro" looks in that regard.

In reply about the illegals
I currently live in Hollywood Fl, where the streets are overrun with homeless, hookers and drunks in the downtown area. They are mostly white, weather beaten and very sad to look at. Our state has more illegals and immigrants than any other. You will not see them loitering on the streets because they hold jobs and are working. They are taking the jobs that we do not want. I work in a major hotel and they are dishwashers, housekeepers and janitors.
Each of us has the potential to make thier life whatever they choose. Crime
here is usually the same as any other city in the US, committed by gangs, homeless (against each other) and drunk drivers. I still think after reading all of the posts that Greenville is a utopia.

You can also look that particular poster's threads and see that in 90% percent of them there was much negativity directed toward the area and anyone in the area. An axe to grind maybe?

someone needs a cookie.
I would like to consider leaving Florida for Greenville. I want a City or County that is growing but exploding. It seams Greenville County is growing and there must be a lot of reasons. If anyone would care to reply I would like to know.
thank you

Spartanburg area
My family and I moved to Spartanburg area fourteen years ago because of a job transfer. I cannot wait until I leave here in one to two more years. The crime rate is extremely high, you cannot even go to the mall in the daylight anymore alone or to any store for that matter. People on drugs are stealing from anyone and they don't care what time of day it is or whether the area is populated or not. They usually carry guns and you'd better do as they say and give up anything they want. It is a huge daily problem. They have chained the atm machines and tried to drive away with them. They have accosted patrons of high end and low end hotels and motels day and night. They have robbed pharmacies on busy main streets just in the last couple of days in broad daylight. They highjack cars, kill whoever gets in their way and have even had shootouts in the mall in Spartanburg. It wasn't quite that bad when we first moved here but has progressed over the years to where it is not safe to do anything now and don't even think about walking in downtown Spartanburg to go to the resturants and stores. You may get robbed and beat up. If you subscribe to the Spartanburg Herald Journal you can read all about it. You can also read some of it on line although they do not post all the crime incidences in the online version. It is a huge drug problem and these people have no way to finace their drug use so they rob and kill.

I don't know Spartanburg too well, but I do know that you have over-exaggerated a LOT.

Sounds like what I do on Grand Theft Auto the video game. LOL. You sure are a sad person for thinking that. It's been months since anything has happened at a mall here. Go to Omaha or Salt Lake City instead. They seem to have more mall shootings than we do.

I have not exaggerated. All you have to do is read the Spartanburg Herald everyday. The mall shooting occurred just a few weeks ago and everything else I said is true. There are at least 5 crimes reported today from yesterday. It was a light day, two robberies, a woman charged with child cruelty, a sex offender not regestering and a person fleeing from the cops when they tried to stop him for a traffic violation. One of our 20 year fire department voulunteers and ex cop was just sent to prison for having illegal gambling machines in his store and this info is just a drop in the bucket of the stuff that is going on here. Just look at back issues of the Spartanburg Herald and you will see what really goes on in the way of crime. We have lived here 14 years and I had no intention of leaving here in the beginning but now I will. The crime has gotten so out of hand that spartanburg is putting cameras in the downtown area to help in catching some of these people but that will only push the offenders to the outskirts of town where there are no cameras. You don't have to believe what I write. Just check out our local paper and tv news stations.
