Plus more to add because people don't want to here the truth and the schools have a lack of time giving students diplomas. I don't blame you alot of people are going to move away from this prison place called South Carolina. It sounds to me like the only person on here telling lies and trashy stories is you. If people are leaving this state like you say, then why is the population going up every year? Admitting you were banned then making a new username won't get you very far on this forum. Won't be long until you're gone again.

what a great thread!
Informative and an interesing read. I am looking to move to greenville, have lived all around the country. Looking for good weather, low cost of living and beautiful natural suroundings. I am sorry to hear of your DWB experiences hopefully President Obama will help us get past all that. I am not a minority so i can't really understand how that feels.
I will look foward to future threads...you should be a writer...
Later, Patricia

You have provided a lot for me to consider.
Thanks everyone,
In considering a job and moving to Greenville, I decided to research information online to find out more about Greenville, SC and I found this site. I live in a small town in New Jersey. My reason for considering Greenville is the low cost of living compared to New Jersey. Although the crime rate is low here in New Jersey, there's not much entertainment unless I travel to NYC or Philadelphia (hour and a half or two hours away).
I found SOJones's Pros and Cons (whether his opinion is shared by others or not) to be very insightful. His opinion was also supported by comments made by Rochelle and Captainrm which shows that he's not alone in his opinion.
In reading through some of the other comments reminded me of the Midwest City in Indiana where I grew up. White people found the Midwest City to be a wonderful place to live, but for me (Black American), I saw the oppression, lack of opportunity for Blacks, high crimes due to the lack of opportunity, and the extreme effort it took to get the same quality of education for our children. The negative racial overtone of the white people was very obvious especially when Blacks purchased home in their predominantly White neighborhoods. I decided to leave the Midwest instead of having to deal with the daily challenge of the ignorance people that only added stress to my life. I was asked "how will things ever change if Black people continue to move away after graduating from college?" This may or may not be the environment of Greenville!
In addition, the correct way to disagree with SOJones would have been to list your Pros and Cons of Greenville instead of having him remove from the site. I didn't find his opinion to be negative but that he added an independent point of view which maybe the views of others in Greenville.
Skyline and g-man430 should have also been removed from the site. No one wants a one sided point of view on any topic. To shut SOJones down or remove him from this thread, only speaks volume of the mentality of the people in Greenville, which says “Agree with me or be gone!”
I'm not sure that I want to step back in time, I prefer a city that's progressive in all areas.

Me and Skyliner removed from the site? Ummm...no. Sojones was banned for a reason. He would go off on rants that weren't true. He would state his own opinions without any information to back it up. What me and Skyliner said were true. Just look at the pics or visit sometime.

Why does "lack of opportunity" have to lead to high crime? Could having less not lead to creativity instead? I have seen examples where this has been the case. So much time is wasted on complaining about what one doesn't have that another has, when in fact opportunities for success are available to everyone who is willing to capitalize on them.

Skyliner,
In a perfect world your words would be true, but reality shows that this is not always the case, and this holds true with all people. I agree that it would make more sense to create your own opportunity, but many times the person lack the knowledge or motivation to do so (I personally believe that it starts in some school system, mental conditioning). This is why it is so important for parents to be involved in their children education.
I'm not one for complaining, I tend to take on the challenges. But now I'm at a place in life where I don't want to live in an environment or work for a company where I have to work twice as hard for equal or less pay. Nor do I want anyone to just give me anything, but I demand to be treated fair.
In some cities there are an abundance of people (same mindset) would will treat a person or group of people as if they are less intelligent, in order to maintain a feeling of superior, especially in some southern states. That "good ole boy" mentality! This is what I'm trying to avoid. A Klan store openly displaying hate material would surely cause questions in my mind about the city.
