I can not stand Atlanta. It is a drivers worst nightmare due to the terrible sprawl. It's like Woodruff on steroids.

Woodruff isn't bad sprawl. Plus it is easy to avoid.

I've lived in both places, Atlanta and Greenville. They are very different places. I'm sure the OP has long made their choice but for anyone else contemplating this move here are my thoughts. First there is really no comparison between Atlanta and Greenville SC. ATL is a very large metro with everything that goes with it. If you travel a lot then Atlanta may be a better choice for its airport. Greenville has a very nice regional airport but flights from ATL are more plentiful, easier and a bit less costly. The job market in Atlanta is a bit better. There is a larger employer pool to choice from. That said Greenville is home to several large employers and has its fair share of head-of-household jobs available.

The first main difference between the two is size. If you are more interested in a very nice smaller city with some bigger city amenities Greenville SC will be great for you. On the other hand if you like a big city with the charm of a smaller town Atlanta is the way to go.

The second difference of note is cost of living and pay rates. It is marginally less costly to live in Greenville than Atlanta. The closer you are to retirement age the more I would lean toward a move to Greenville. If you are in the beginning or mid point of your career then I would pick Atlanta for the job prospects and earning potential.

It's been two years since the Op's post. Wonder where they chose to move to ? If they chose to move at all. I wish posters would always let the board know what they chose to do . Most don't come back and tell .
