Hey CK, since you're in the know, is Publix going in the same refurbished shopping center as Kohls? Thanks

So what did you eat, and what did you think?

Found their menu on FB (and no, you don't need a FB account, I don't have one) It's actually Bluegrass BBQ

The current site plan, known as Piedmont Marketplace, does not allocate space for a supermarket. That does not mean a supermarket is not in the cards. If one was to locate, the finished plan will be different.

Publix does have four prototype sizes for its stores, listed at Publix Real Estate Site Submission.

28m (28,000 sq. ft.) = 3 acres
45m (45,000 sq. ft.) = 6 acres
39m (39,000 sq. ft.) = 5 acres
54m (54,000 sq. ft.) = 8 acres

As for other supermarket ideas in or nearby the City of Greer:

There was also a proposed retail center on Brushy Creek Road across from Praise Cathedral that would be anchored by a supermarket of 45,000 square feet, something typical for Publix. The site remains available.

Bi-Lo has owned property on South Buncombe Road, borderd by Hammett Bridge Road and SC-14, for a future store. It also had plans for another Taylors store a decade ago, on Locust Hill Road (SC-290) at Old Rutherford Road, where Spinx is now. Bi-Lo retracted its interest.

The Village at Pelham was to have a supermarket in its retail component. Plans for that phase were abolished.

Ingle's did look at land on SC-14 north when deciding where to open its first Greer Store.

I'm still sticking with the idea that a Publix would go great in the D&D Ford location on WH! Wonder if they even know about the site???

That site needs better accessibility. Unless that is improved, a large supermarket that needs easy accessibility will locate elsewhere.

I believe there's 3 seperate areas there - no problem with accessibility, I think. At the first area alone, there's a light there, and there's other areas to access getting in and out. I really don't think that would be an issue, but then again, I'm not in to construction.

A connector road from Mount Vernon Road along the back of potential businesses, if the existing D&D properties and Burger King are demolished, would be useful.

The Sunoco, it's now all fenced off, along with the dry cleaners and laundry place - right up to where the Sonic is, so I'm sure construction is sure to come.

As for D&D, there's enough access to get over there right now, but they can make it better. Taking over the BK would be great too. I hope Publix or another reputable and solid retailer / company looks in to developing that site. Wonder when D&D will break ground on their new location? They won't leave til they have the new location, so nothing is happening anytime soon, that's for sure.
