I used to work in Greer. It's just baffling to me that Greer has no YMCA facility. Yes, there's a Y on the Eastside but it's facility looks old/dated (especially compared to Caine Halter and the Kroc Center).

As for "29" or Wade-Hampton - good grief, this is one of the most sprawl-ridden roads in the Upstate (with mile after mile of ugly/outdated strip centers and billboards). It's in desperate need of some beautification, synced traffic lights, and some additional upscale development (Good Lord, no more Wal-Mart extensions or Monterrey's - I ate at Monterrey's by the Mall once - awful, never again).

Wasn't there mention years ago of upscale retail development near the 14/Wade-Hampton area? Now, this is where Bass Pro Shops should build - add in a Rave mutiplex movie theater, a new Publix, and an upscale Y (much like Biltmore Park in Asheville) and even I would consider moving to Greer.

There is Anytime Fitness on West Wade Hamptom Boulevard between Middleton Way and West Poinsett Street.

There was the Bass Pro Shops-anchored development at I-85 and SC-14 that never came to fruition. Bass Pro Shops is casting a line at Magnolia Park.

Went there, wasn't impressed when 3 of the treadmills I tried out, the screens on them weren't working, my friend tried another one, that one had volume issues. Then we were going to try the hydromassage table, that wasn't working either.

The treadmill that I finally got on, the headphone jack was in such an odd place I must of pulled out the cord at least 3 dozen times.

Last, we saw an offer for 2 weeks to try it out, usually it's one, but if you signed up through one of the social sites you got an extra week free. Took in the offer and they only would honor the 1 week, and this was AFTER we had gone to check out the place prior, told the girl who gave us the tour about the offer and she said "bring it in so we can honor it" - unfortunately, she wasn't there and the girl there flat out said "No."

They had a deal on one of the sites for things OTHER than the gym, sauna, class, training session and hydromassage. I told the girl I thought the ad was very vague, that it can only be redeemed when it's staffed (limited hours) and that you had to make an appt.

Anyhow, will use it a few days since we signed up, but I doubt my opinion of the place will get any better.

It's too bad since that is the closet gym to me and I really hoped I'd like the place.

Besides Eastside YMCA, there is Pivotal Fitness on Old Spartanburg Road in Taylors. It is a great fitness center in a bad accessible location.

I would not mind seeing another fitness center in Greer. I just do not want to see a 50,000 square feet mega fitness center on every street corner.

New sign up where Capri's was on Middleton, off WH by Big Lots - now called George's - Lebanese & Italian. Not open yet, they're still working in there.

I shop 29 all the time and am looking forward to Kohl's being there. I like 29 because it's easy, no traffic and there is Target, Wamart and Publix as well as a Belks. I prefer it over battling Woodruff Road.

Just saw two guys putting up a sign at the old BK on Wade Hampton by Middleton Place (near where Belks is) that Zaxby's is going in at that location.

Awesome. I love Zaxby's and they have taken over other BK locations I believe. I know the one off East North used to be a BK according to people I know.
