A delegation from Roanoke, VA, is visiting leaders in Greenville right now. I can tell you they are serious about improving Roanoke's quality of life. They have done an excellent job of promoting growth and support for the Arts within their community already, so it is an honor for Greenville to have been chosen as a role model for future development in Roanoke. I hope the collaboration of creative ideas is reciprocal and that Greenville's leaders will gather useful information to strengthen the Arts community at home. I believe Roanoke may have realized its full potential in this regard and Greenville has a ton of potential not yet fulfilled.
Also, although they're looking to learn from Greenville's downtown, I really love their City Market in downtown Roanoke! That's the kind of thing I'd love to see in our downtown! Kind of like a permanent Saturday Market showcasing the bounty of our region.
"But, it was the most productive trip I’ve ever been a part of," she said. "In fact, I was part of a meeting about the Georgia Ramble after we got back and all anyone could talk about was Greenville."
Greenville, it seems, put its best foot forward in welcoming the VIP group from North Fulton.
"There was a great pride in that city," said Steve Stroud, executive director of the Roswell Business Alliance. "They really shined."

Decatur, Alabama, is beginning to emerge since that trip to Greenville in 2007. They've implemented some of the steps taken by leaders in Greenville decades ago and are already witnessing positive change.
