Heads up everyone... 2011 could be one of the best years for a coordinated variation of vivid autumn leaf colors during peak season. Undoubtedly the best since 2008, which was probably the most spectacular display I have ever witnessed in person. Some places in the highlands of southern Virginia are already jaw-dropping. Dust off those apathetic cameras and capture the unusual beauty while you can, because it will fade away with every falling leaf.

I am heading to Pigeon Forge this weekend. I can't wait to see all of the colors. My husband and son are going for the Corvette show but I am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful colors!

This site should be useful to "leaf chasers" in SC: South Carolina State Parks - Fall Foliage

Thanks Skyliner for the link. I'll have to check out that Table Rock Webcam tomorrow when the sun comes up.

I hope to head up to the mountains either Sat. or Sunday. Not quite sure where to go yet to see the best color.

I checked it out earlier and there wasn't much of any color yet. Please post some pics of the mountains.

I agree. I just looked at the webcam myself and don't see too much color at all. We might wait and go the middle of next week.

I will definitely post pics if I can get some good shots.

Well this is a good site to see some color. Also included is a video taken Oct. 5. These pics look promising for this weekend to be pretty good.

We went up to Sky Top to pick apples today. You can see the colors gradually changing as you go up 25 into NC.

Here are a couple of shots that my wife took along the way.

I'm pretty sure this is at the intersection of 25 and 125.

and this was at Sky Top Orchard @ about 2800 Ft
