Legend has it that when Bill Cosby was in a limo on the way to perform at the Peace Center, he had someone go into the Hot Dog King to get him a chili dog.
Most of the celebrity performers don't ride around in a limo and send someone else to fetch their food while on tour in Greenville. They are usually seen either shopping or dining somewhere in downtown, if not strolling in the park.
Greenville would love a place like the Hamilton Restaurant & Lounge in Carlisla, PA. Famous for their "hot-chee dogs," I prefer mine "loaded," with a side of poutine and a refreshing vanilla milk shake. Aaahhh, if only my conscience would overlook such an instantaneous guilty pleasure.
Cozy and very simple interior, great service, generations-old local diner experience.
They were expensive for what they served. How many people remember Greenville Grrrowl goalie Nick Vitucci started the business around 1999-2000. Current owners were the third owners of the business.
My wife and I would have eaten there more but their hours were silly - I think out of all the times I've been in downtown Greenville they've actually only been open twice that I passed by. They close super early from what I remember. Seems like they never take advantage of the thousands of weekend downtowners.
On a side note, there are a LOT of restaurants downtown not taking advantage of Sundays. So many places closed, yet thousands of people walking around downtown. Tons of business lost.
Same here - they were rarely open whenever we were downtown.

I hope they keep the sign in tact.
