I am planning on retiring and I like Greenville a lot. My wife and I looked at a lot of houses, but really like one that we saw in Botany woods, that backs up to the golf course. Can anyone tell me if The Botany Woods subdivision, particularly Cherokee Dr. is a good area? I like it because it's close to town, and the Hospitals.

My parents have lived near that area, albeit a different subdivision (wellington green), for over twenty years. It's a very nice area, in my opinion. Very quiet. Some of the streets in the Botany Woods area have a lot of traffic that goes through it, though (as does any area). You may want to keep that in mind when you check out the house you have your eye on.

Yes it does take you out to Wade Hampton Blvd. I haven't been there in the morning or evening commute time, but I will look into that. Thank you.

My college roommate's parents bought a house on Cherokee a few years ago- it backs up to the golf course as well. It's a nice, established area. We have other friends who live in Botany Woods, and they all really enjoy it. Cherokee IS a cut through to Wade Hampton, but there are several speed humps along the road if I'm remembering correctly- that cuts down on people speeding through there.

Thanks how about burglaries, and any other crime, or nonsense.

My dad lives on that street. It is nice but not as nice as it used to be. Someone stole some meat out of an outdoor freezer at my dad's house recently. Not a serious crime but was still not nice.

I grew up in Botany Woods and lived there for 18 years. My parents still live there too. It is a great neighborhood and Cherokee does have traffic but since the speed bumps were put down it seemed to have slowed the traffic down. You might want to double check to make sure that the house is in the neighborhood because I heard years ago of someone that bought a house on Cherokee and thought it was part of Botany Woods and ended up it was right outside the neighborhood. I have never heard of any crime until last year. A couple was renting a house on Cherokee and the boyfriend shot and killed his girlfriend and then shot himself. Hope this helps!

It's been a few years since I lived in Greenville (still have family there). However, I always remembered Botany Woods as being a real nice neighborhood, one I would definitely consider if I ever move back to the area.
