Burrell's Ford on the Chattooga River is a great spot as well. I think it's about a 300 yard hike from the parking lot down to camp sites that line the river. All of the sites have new picnic tables and fire/grilling pits.
Noodles, I can believe that you have never been camping. You have to try it. I started my kids tent camping when they were young & it was a little tough. Was lucky enough to buy a used camper later and of course got spoiled by the a/c. I would still do all of the cooking outside & would only go inside if it rained or to sleep. There are places that have cabins you can rent and that might be the best place for you to start just to get an idea if you even like it. It is not quite the same as camping but a good starting place. I still love camping to this day and you sure do meet a lot of nice folks generally.
