If I wanted to check out someone's criminal record in Greenville, SC, how do I do that? I looked on the web and all I get are paid background checks. I don't want where they lived, or their jobs and marriages, I just want to see how many criminal offenses they have done in the past. Does anybody know how I can find this information out? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
I could use this too. The best I can find is the Greenville Public records site that gives a list of court cases that have gone to summary and circuit court.
It basically tells you who has gotten traffic tickets, who has a house in foreclosure and that type thing.
You can go to the law enforcement center. You will need their social security # and the last time I had to do it, the cost was about $6.00. You may want to call first to see if things have changed. Just ask for criminal records.
The Greenville Public Records site listed above is excellent. I've used it many times. It free and easy to navigate. Once you get used to it you can really fly right through it. It has everything from traffic tickets to felonies. Keep in mind though that some of the cases listed are not resolved yet (have not gone to trial) so the person may be innocent.

Wouldn't this be limited to Greenville County alone? That may not be effective since other counties are nearby.
Most likely just Greenville County stuff, yes. With some searching though you should be able to find the site for other counties as well. I've found them, but unfortunately haven't bookmarked them.
So basically you could look up Greenville and surrounding counties (Spartanburg, Pickens, etc.) for free yourself, or save some time and pay a company to do it. If you do enlist a company to do it, I'd recommend calling them first instead of just giving your credit card info to any ol' website offering the service.
I think that "common criminals" (for lack of a better term) probably will have records of offenses close to home though. That's where they're most likely to hang out, drive around and get caught.
