Maybe they are saying holiday carols to cover Christmas AND Hannukah - you do realize that Hannukah and Christmas share the 25th as both being a holiday.
That's just coincidence for this year.
The Jewish holidays* follow a lunar calendar.
btw, Hanukah is minor holiday and has no carols.
and on that point... they're being obsequious and peecee.
*that lunar business and careful record keeping are how it's been asserted that the birth being celebrated happened about 9 months after Dec 25.

Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I'm aware we Jews don't have "carols" During the holiday season when "they" are singing "holiday carols" "they" usually try to throw in a couple Hannukah songs, which, well, there's only a couple of Hannukah songs anyhow, to make sure the Jews have been covered. Last year I went to my nieces "holiday concert" They sang "holiday songs" which covered many Christmas carols, Hannukah songs and even a song for Kwanzaa.
Hannukah a minor holiday? Not if you ask little Jewish kids (non-Orthodox, of course)
Thank you for that link, I appreciate it. I will speak with them and report back our discussion. Regarding Hanukkah vis a vis Christmas, Hanukkah is a secondary, if not tertiary holiday in the Jewish calendar, which happens to on occasion overlap Christmas. If you were trying to make an equivalent comparison, it would be like a Christian living in Israel complaining that Rosh hashana was offensive and not inclusive and demanded that it be referred to as Rosh Haholiday, despite over 90% of the population celebration Rosh hashana.
You can find the number on this page. Please, let us know what they tell you.

Will this pc madness ever end? Kwanzaa is a fictious made up holiday created by a black separatist racist professor from Los Angeles in the 1970's. It would be akin to the kkk creating a holiday. Go to Africa and ask them about Kwanza, they'll look at you like you're nuts and wish you a Merry Christmas.

Yeah; minor.
Only since the middle of the last century, and most of that only in the US as the rise of the commercialism and advertising related to Christmas (and especially the childrens toy commercials on television) has Hanukah been conflated to something that created an excuse/obligation to also give Jewish kids (and wives!) gifts at the same time their Christian school mates were getting them.
So getting back to sophiasmommy and her pique...
maybe she should protest ANY holiday celebration at the mall whatsover.

Holidays have been combined and downsized, and any mention of Chr@#$%^& will be edited by you know who, Merry
Chr@#$%^& and You may still have a Happy New Century.

Christmas Trees, technically, have nothing to do with Christ. Or with the celebration of His birth. It is an ancient pagan European custom, that was co-opted by the early church. It was in celebration of Yule. There is a lot on the internet about that.
Some very extreme denominations will not use "Christmas" trees. I am a Christian and I am fine with this custom.
Since our country is becoming increasingly multi cultural, and we are not now and never were, a "Christian Nation", I have no problem with that term.
In my home we call it a Christmas tree. But then, we are Christians.
And in the same respect, wouldn't Santa Claus bringing toys down the chimney, Rudolph, the Elves, AND the Easter Bunny be fictitious?
Yes, Christmas has both a secular and a religious side. It's been an official federal holiday since the 1850's I believe and is celebrated by over 90% of the American population, just as is Rosh Hashana in Israel. Imagine if "offended" Christians living in Israel demanded that Rosh Hashana be changed to Rosh Haholiday and the pc zealots capitulated? Thankfully, most of the world aren't brain washed pc zombies like we are here in the United States of the Offended.
