From the Greenville News:

Winn-Dixie’s chairman and chief executive said he anticipates the newly merged company with Mauldin-based Bi-Lo will maintain a strong corporate presence in Jacksonville, Fla., where Winn-Dixie is headquartered.

Peter Lynch, Winn-Dixie’s chairman, CEO and president, said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission the company also will continue to fill open jobs “provided they are part of the fiscal year 2012 annual operating plan and are deemed critical to business continuity.”

Notice it never says the headquarters will be in Jacksonville. Maybe gsupstate is right.

If W-D corporate stays in Jacksonville Bi-Lo won't have much to do with the chain other than funding and future business decisions. I'd be willing to bet the 2 stores will continue to operate as they have for the last few years. This is how Bi-Lo and Bruno's first operated. Time will tell.

Winn Dixie will continue to have some corporate operations out of Jacksonville, most likely in their regional, market, and area levels. The same can be said for Bi-Lo in Greenville. Anything technical, legal, marketing, or specific areas will consolidate. All this will not occur until after the deal is approved and some time goes by.

Before Bi Lo sold it's Mauldin Warehouse to C&S I have been told that they averaged about $50 Million Dollars worth of inventory on hand, at any given time, that's a lot of money tied up in inventory.

Winn Dixie has 4-6 Warehouses. That is a lot of money tied up that could be allocated towards remodels if C&S took over their inventory needs.
A friend's husband is a trucker for C&S and according to him they will take over all distribution for Winn Dixie.

Hopefully they learned something from that and will do the exact opposite. Bruno's was a train wreck for BI-LO

idk If i were bi-lo I would just stop using C&S. I heard a rumor from a few people in the grocer industry that when a grocer store goes bankrupt and owes them money like bi-lo the store doesnt last 10 years. then Again they could be wrong.

Wouldn't Lone Star be footing the bill for acquiring WD and how long will it take them to put the combined company up for sale because BILo has been for sale, in bankruptcy, almost sold to FoodLion, out of bankruptcy, reportedly for sale again and now acquiring another chain.....very confusing.

Bi-Lo is not for sale and hasn't been for years. There was only one time they were for sale and that plan fell through. Lone Star gave them a large cash infusion after that. The whole thing with Kroger was only a rumor and nothing more.
