I don't understand why the entire Greenville-Spartanburg area cannot have just one Shoney's or Big Boy restaurant. Used to be Shoney's Big Boy was popular all over the Southeast, even after they dropped the Big Boy affiliation. Now they are just declining. I miss the Big Boy burger and the breakfast bar. And the hot fudge cake and strawberry pie was always popular. And the iconic Big Boy statue was always prominent, and they had different franchises in other states such as Bob's Big Boy and Frisch's Big Boy.

But looks like that old Perkins location could at least become a Denny's although there is competition from IHOP and Waffle House nearby.

I noticed on 153 the otherday that the signage for Bel Aire Grill is gone. I don't think it ever opened.

When we first moved here back in 07 from Los Angeles it was still a Perkins and we walked in with our two month old and the lady said "smoking or non-smoking" and we looked at each other in shock and literally walked right out. How times of changed. LOL

They put up a sign and bought quite a bit of equipment and then never opened. Must have been an expensive mistake for someone.

From what I heard someone from the stax brand started epic curean and then had a falling out with the rest of the ownership and thats why it broke off on its own.

So I was wrong, New England Seafood did not close down they just partitioned the other half of the store to a different unit and that one is for lease. I didn't want to spread any misinformation.

I saw today where the last Sears in Charleston is closing. They have already closed both large Columbia stores. Wonder how much longer they will hold on in Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson? I think the large store is still open at Coastal Grande Mall in Myrtle Beach. That would be the last 4 full line ones still open in the state (excluding the appliance and small hometown stores like Greenwood).
