For now...this current list has 79 stores on it that will close. One in Sumter will close. Gosh, I hope that is the only closing in this state.

Kmart holds a special bond for me as you might tell from my earlier post. One of my first jobs in high school it was the one I wanted most but Wendy's called first and so I worked there for a month or two and hated it. Somewhere along the way I ended up at McDonald's also for only a month or so; I hated fast food work and still do and then finally the call from Kmart came. I worked there for something like a year and a half before moving too far away from one to continue working there. Please leave the Mauldin store alone!

The location in South Carolina on the initial list to close is a Sears in Sumter. The list is likely to grow after store sales for calendar year 2011 are in and other underperforming stores, including Wade Hampton, are added to that list.

Where did the Wendy's on Haywood relocate?

Not sure of exact name, just know it's a boutique - saw an ad on CL with them trying to sell their store fixtures by Jan. 11th

3188 Wade Hampton Blvd. Taylors SC 29687. Intersection with Rutherford Rd. Across from Hardee's.

Regarding Quizno's, they recently filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed lots of locations throughout the country as part of their restructuring effort. In my opinion, Firehouse Subs and Jimmy Johns puts them to shame.

It is Janette's.

That complex has no traffic light to exiting out onto Rutherford Road or Wade Hampton Boulevard even though it has access directly into that intersection. The traffic signals were recently replaced, and SCDOT left it incomplete.

Really? That can't be true! It's always so busy? Where did you find this out?

Urbanplanet. Closing at the end of the month according to store manager. The most shocking part is that Armani Exchange has apparently shown interest in the space.
