Here's a minor one to break the silence: the As Seen on TV Store at Haywood Mall closed on 12/30.

The space in the old Babies R Us center?

That space might start to develop a reputation.. That's the 3rd restaurant to fail there, isn't it? Not to mention the old Gateway store.

Yep. It's a cursed site. I still remember when it was Cheeseburger in Paradise. lol. The owner is leaving to focus on his new restaurant in downtown Greenville.

Was Grille 33 previously located at 221 North Main Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29601-2115? If I recall correctly, that site has had a revolving door of failed businesses after Fuddrucker's successful run.

It was a Houser Shoe Store originally. That stuck for a long time. Maybe they should go back to retail to fill it since they have a retail anchor in Gabes now.

Wasn't it the Gateway store before that? Eh.. Chicken or Egg.. Does it really matter?

Lebo's has been there 20 some odd years, and I think that's the only thing that has stuck in that center. I recall People's Computers moved to that center for a while after they gave up the spot in front of Greenville Tech in 92 or 93 or so.

Yes, I found it notable that they moved from downtown Greenville to this center, and now the owner is going back to some restaurant in downtown Greenville.

They're moving back into their old space downtown as Kilpatrick's Public House.

I might be completely butchering this story, which I heard straight from owner Jay McAbee a couple months ago, but I believe he said someone else acquired the lease for 221 N. Main. That other person/group wanted to open a restaurant/bar but wanted the Grille 33 folks to handle the food end of it. The Comedy Zone is gonna be in the upstairs area.

I liked the Haywood Rd. location and the greatly expanded menu there, although, strangely, I felt like the burgers were better downtown.
