Sorry to see. I would like to see another electronics retailer such as MicroCenter takeover that location. But a bit too small for a Fry's.

It would be nice to have another choice other than Best Buy. Something about Conn's sounds a bit shady, especially their Yes Money financing plan. Apparently they require you to purchase an insurance policy as part of the financing, and on the last month of the payoff plan they supposedly add on more finance charges to make you default and owe more money, including past deferred interest charges. More so than typical credit financing at other stores. I have read questionable reports and I think I will stay clear unless I use my own financing rather than theirs.

Iron Yard closing... wow

Greenville-based tech/coding company abruptly announces shutdown after multi-state expansion

Quote:
After expanding into several cities in multiple states, a Greenville-based tech and coding educator that was founded in 2012 announced Thursday that it will cease operations at all its campuses.

The Iron Yard announced the closure on its blog. The post says: “Over the last four years, The Iron Yard has led the code school industry in preparing students for careers as software developers. The industry, as a whole, is still young and its leaders face the challenge of a nascent market, as well as the demands facing all institutions in the higher education marketplace.

“In considering the current environment, the board of The Iron Yard has made the difficult decision to cease operations at all campuses after teaching out remaining summer cohorts. We will finish out summer classes completely, including career support.

Never made sense for Starbucks to have the overhead of separate stores when they can just sell it at their Starbuck locations.

Just went to Publix in Taylor's and noticed The Hampton Buffet is closed. Not sure how long, I haven't been to that Publix in months and never ate there...guessing not many people did either.

Don't really feel this is worth a new topic.. Just curious if anyone has heard anything about the former Phoenix Inn property and whether there are any plans or what?

I know they originally said they were closing to deal with the structural issues, but that turned into them auctioning everything off.. I imagine the property is on the market?

Just seems like some chain would build a new hotel there.. Or, there are probably other things that could go there with the proximity to the convention center and downtown airport.
