Yup. The place is dark, empty, closed, sign down and the location is no longer on Rita's website.
That stinks. We didn't eat there a lot- maybe 2 or 3 times during the warmer months. But our kids really liked it, and it was close to our house. Oh, well- maybe something else good will take its place!
Stoagie Station was in the way of North Buncombe Road's (SC-101, SC-290) upcoming widening. I do not believe drive through tobacco product retailers are successful, also.
I haven't seen anything about them widening the road there. Any idea when they're going to start doing this, where are they widening it from/to and are they going to be taking over the land with the SS was?

Right of way has been acquired. Construction should start this summer, and be complete in autumn 2013.
North Buncombe Road/O'Neal road will be widened up to the SC-101/SC-290 split. Locust Hill Road (SC-290) will be widened to four lanes up to Sandy Flat in a future project.
I believe a frozen yogurt place is going into the space next to Firehouse Subs in the plaza where Rita's used to be. I thought I heard someone say Yogurt Mountain, but I could be mistaken.
I'm going to really miss the Rita's on Pelham. I went there all the time for their Italian ices.
Looks like Ritas on North Pleasantburg is still open. They have a drive thru where the one on Pelham didn't did they? I am sure that can be a huge help in the volume of business you get.
Don't know how long they have been closed (could be months) but Blue Fish Grill next to Sticky Fingers looks like it's no longer in business. Can't say I am surprised. This restaurant reminded me of St. Louis Hamburgers and for all of the wrong reasons.
