Question Fall leaves? Lakes??

Are there any lakes around Greenville? We are considering the Greer area, but really like the idea of boating and fishing. Also do you have an autumn? Do the leaves change color?

RCfromGreenville is on a distinguished road
There are three large lakes to the west and southwest of Greenville. Each is about an hour away from Greenville. The smallest of the three, Lake Jocassee, is about 7500 acres in size and is one of the most beautiful lakes in the US. Lake Keowee, immediately to the South of Lake Jocassee, is Lake Keowee (20,000 acres), which has a number of very high end developments, and south of Lake Keowee is Lake Hartwell (55,000 acres).

There are a number of small lakes closer to Greenville. The largest of them, Lake Robinson (which is northwest of Greer), is 800 acres. Most of these lakes have limits on boat size and horsepower. Immediately to the west of Greenville is Saluda Lake, but that lake seems to be shrinking due to heavy silting. I think it is down below 400 acres now.

Greenville has a beautiful autumn. Yellows and deep reds predominate. Peak colors in most of the county are in late October and early November. In the mountains in the very northern part of Greenville County, peak colors are a couple of weeks earlier.

Fall colors will be washed out this year since we are in a serious drought and what we have will be early. Leaves are already starting to die and fall off trees here.

Tega Cay, SC has lots of water surrounding it. Maybe check into that area. We are moving to Simpsonville, but it was a close call between Fort Mill/Tega Cay and the Greenville area.

We are having a hard time picking between Lake Norman west side and the Greer area of Greenville. My husband thinks NC is better suited for us. I really like the greenville area. I can't tell if schools are that much different. I believe they are all pretty good. I am not sure if the pay scale would be better in NC for a HVAC tech. or not. Any feed back would be great.

I think the pay would be comparable in Charlotte and Greenville. Not sure about schools in the Charlotte area, but Greenville has some of the best schools in South Carolina.
