The good news is that our home has finally sold after being on the market since April. We were very scared that we might be forced into paying two mortgages as our new home in SC is being built with an anticipated closing in early October, and our NJ home sitting o the market. The market is bad, if your home is priced right, and has an appeal, someone will come along and make you that offer. We dropped the price on our NJ home twice since it went on the market and our agent met to suggest we do another drop in price as the market and the area had no movement. We were very worried because we had a magic number that we knew we needed to get in order to accomplish our goal of building a new home, paying it off immediately, and then socking some money away in a bank as profit from the sale. We were just on the verge of calling the agent back to make that 3rd price reduction and in walks a young couple with the husband being in the military, and the couple basically living out of boxes. They were simply in love with our home at first sight with the spacious, fenced-in backyard as the deal sealer! You see, this couple ( dog lovers ) had their pet dog staying with friends in SC until that perfect home came along. Lord and behold this became a match made in heaven. We are closing on the NJ home on Sept.14th then closing on our new home in Easley,SC on October 10th. What a journey. Keep the faith is what I may say to those who have homes setting on the market. Selling a home is such a draining experience. This was our 1st since building our NJ home 34yrs.ago. I'll be glad when this is all over and I'm safely in my SC home. We are really looking forward to getting out from behind stacks of packed boxes, talking & planning with moving companies etc. It is such a drain on normal life. But, the good news is how satisfying you feel when that deal comes along. Good Luck to those on the market. South Carolina here we come!
