We looked at Blue Ridge when we were searching for our new home. You would definitely be able to purchase a beautiful home in your price range, seeing we looked at some very nice ones under $250.
It is a master planned community, with rights to the lake. It will eventually have a center with small retail, doctors, and cafes (its based on who signs up to lease the space). Pool, and playground etc.
We received a nice package from them when we went up there, I just felt it was a little out there for us. They assured me the hospital and schools were very close, and the schools are suppose to be very good.
Sorry thats all I have on it. The houses are built by Lazarus Shouse who is suppose to be a reputable builder. I know there are several already built that are available so if you go onto a realtors site you could get an idea of what the houses look like.
Good luck!

We were visiting our daughter and family who live in TR and checked out Blue Ridge. From what we saw there are three sections currently open. Two of the areas are off Groce Meadow Rd. Lakeside is on the east side and the homes we visited were about $300 to $400. They also have access to Lake Robinson and the homes are on about .25 of an acre. Good Luck. It is a very pretty area.

I remember looking at Blue Ridge Plantation when we were house hunting a little over a year ago. There were 2 sides - that they say will eventually connect by a bridge. The side the had the more affordable homes - under $250k - had large power lines running through the neighborhood. Other than that it looked like a nice place. Surrounding area was also a little more rural than we were looking for.

Thanks, didn't know that it was way out in no wheres land. I called for a brochure and it is coming. I am sure it is nice but I like to be able to get a gallon of milk within 5 min. from home. But thanks for all the info again.

There are many beautiful places in the Greater Greenville, Greer, Traveler's Rest and Taylor areas. I'm sure you will find something that will suit. Good Luck!

Hey Familymom! I realize this message is dated July 07', however I found your question via Google search, so I would like to reply. I happen to work for Meritus Signature Homes who is a preferred builder at Blue Ridge Plantation. Things are moving along rather quickly now. The bridge connecting different phases of BRP is under construction as well as the community pool. We are starting to build townhomes ($229K to $275K) in the part called Seven Oaks. Although we are starting with townhomes we also can build in other areas of BRP, our own signature models, Southern Living Plans or your own custom plan. As far as the location of BRP, I would not consider it "out in the booneys" You have grocery stores, restaurants, etc within 10mins of BRP. Also BRP has a portion of this property zoned for commercial, which means more ammenities within walking distance. Doctors, grocery mart, coffee shop, etc. It is rather exciting. Please visit us at meritushomes.com or give us a call toll free 888-701-1717. Thanks!

We shopped BRP as well. I can't understand why someone would choose to be on quarter acre lots with so much beautiful land available. We ended up choosing one of the builders in BRP and got the same house on three acres with mountain views for LESS money.
