Default Downtown Greenville fights/shootings.

And so it begins again. Shooting tonight on Main Street bridge that crosses Reedy River thanks to the teenage thugs. At least the police got it under control and cleared out the area fast before any further damage was done.

I happened to be in the middle of this tonight. I attended the Road Warriors game, after it was over I took an out of town guest to show them how nice downtown is. We parked near falls park, and went into Starbucks. When we walked out we were standing there with about 200 young kids running at us. I don't know how they didn't trample us. What a shame, it was such a nice scene, just minutes before. To say the least, my out of town guest doesn't think to highly of downtown.

And this is what the future holds for Greenville unless the police make the parents of these thugs responsible and accountable. Put the parents in jail a couple of nights, if they are not already there, and things will turn around. JMHO

Is this reported in local news anywhere? What time did this happen? Was the curfew eased?

Undisciplined youth who have nothing to do are going to hang out in urban areas with mass numbers. Maybe this is why some businesses do not want to come to downtown because it lacks appeal for everyone to enjoy.

It's a shame this happened and it's not acceptable. My question is where is a place for them to hang out besides downtown? It seems there are a lack of places for them to go. When we were younger, we went to teen dance clubs, arcades, movies, and mall. These places were well supervised and rarely had a problem. I think is there were more places for them to hang out outside of downtown, there would be a better shot of them not loitering downtown IMHO.

Sorry to the other poster that their guests had to see this. Hopefully, they realize this is rare and downtown Greenville is a beautiful and safe place to visit.

It's a shame thugs put so much of a strain on cities' resources. No place is immune from the occasional outburst.

This is why downtown will continue to be a magnet for teens looking for trouble aka something to do. The malls are closed for teens after a certain time unless they are will an adult. Teens don't like going rollerskating or bowling anymore. Movies are too expensive and the last arcade I saw was in NC and it wasn't doing to hot (no customers). A lot of teens just want a place to walk around and be seen by other people possibly. There's just no where to really do that in Greenville.

There were cop cars everywhere between Broad Street and Camperdown Way along Main Street with their sirens on along with an ambulance. Main Street was blocked off in this area for around two hours after the incident happened.

Still can't find anything anywhere...selective news reporting is unacceptable. How are parents supposed to know this is becoming a problem again if its not reported?
