"The Pickens County school board has voted to join litigation against Clemson over the city’s ongoing redevelopment plan.
The Pickens County Council had voted April 2 to sue Clemson, claiming the city was collecting excessive revenue, at county and school expense, through a public debt tool called tax-increment financing, or TIF."
What is everyone's opinion of this? Is the city in the wrong or are they using funds as they are assigned to be used? I'm asking as both an interest in people's thoughts but also for a clarification of what each side believes (what makes each side think they are correct). Please chime in and shed some light to this development and let us know if the TIF is being used properly.
The taxable value of property in Clemson has increased by $669 million since 1998 according to the article.
I don't know anything about finance, esp. that in the public sector! But, if they did something illegal, let the litigation begin. Otherwise, the plaintiffs should just keep their sour grapes to themselves.

Thoughts?
Sounds like Agenda 21 to me. If you read the article closely, verbiage reeks of government land grab take overs (all in the name of saving the environment and "sustainable development"--- which is really sustainable fascism or corporatism). The way they are going about it is through local governments. Read the thread on Agenda 21 to familiarize yourself with what it all is. It is happening everywhere.

Put in that perspective.... Well it's frightening! Seems like bureaucrats from other countries are affecting policy and government actions here in our country. Not good!

Yeah! It is a brainchild of the United Nations! Obama and Romney are all behind it as are all many of the state, county and local gubmint and non-profit government organizations who will all benefit from it.
They've figured out devious ways to railroad it through using the Delphi Technique in town meetings where they have their staffers attend meetings meant for residents and taxpayers. When a resident objects, the objection isn't answered. They just plow ahead with how wonderful it is going to be and make you look silly and feel guilty if you find fault. They do all of this at TAXPAYERS EXPENSE without the taxpayer being able to get a word in edgewise.
Don't like it? Don't keep voting status quo. Hold your elected officials accountable. Roger Nutt in Spartanburg County is a good guy. He actually heeded the urge of a constituent and researched Agenda 21 and found out for himself the dangers and urged his fellow council members not to blindly go along (like unfortunately Greenville seems to have done judging by their warm fuzzy pro "sustainablility" website and reports talking about desired population densities for certain areas. Where large lots will be divided up into tiny 1/8 acre lots)....all to generate more money for the gubmint -as if they don't take enough already.
It's truly beginning to look like Libertarians are our country's last hope. But too many voters don't listen, and think they know more than they do. Things are at a tipping point, and it doesn't look good.
