Good Morning everyone.
We want to drive up to the mountains with our kids and dogs today.
I don't want to drive more than 1,5 hours. Where is a great location to have some nice views, walk around and maybe see some creeks or rivers?
We don't want to go to Paris Mountain since we'd like to see something new.
Usually, we go up to Brevard but that takes a good bit. Is there a good destination near Pretty Place? Other places are also fine.
Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Sassafras Mountain is fairly close to Pretty Place chapel. You can hike from the pinnacle (highest peak in SC) and cross a creek or two, but be aware that it is quite secluded up there.

Another good option is Jones Gap State Park, which is located below Pretty Place. Hiking trails are abundant in that area, plus the river and gorge are very picturesque.

Table Rock has some nice trails and creeks with small waterfalls.

Another excellent option is the Mills River Recreation Area in NC.

Just hop on 25 toward Ashville and you'll find the routes to alot of parks/mountains. Love the upstate and can't wait to be there in a few days!

I have lived in this area all of my life. I have to ask. What is there to see or do in Marietta?

I picked/purchased produce at Robertson Brothers and Beechwood Farms years ago, but now just pass through Slater-Marietta on my way to the mountains/river.

Thanks. We went to Jones Gap State Park and it was perfect. Kids and dogs loved the trail along the river.
