Talking Best fares and direct flights to JFK/NY ?

Part of the whole equation for us to relocate to the Greenville area will be how quickly I can fly to New York if I have to. My parents are still in NY and in their late 70's. Any suggestions? Most of the flights out of Greenville are to LaGuardia (not my favorite airport - the runway is too short). Also the flights from Greenville are double what they are from Orlando to NY. My parents live closer to JFK and Islip/MacArthur is also good. How far is Charlotte's airport from Greenville. I know Jet Blue has direct service from Charlotte/JFK.

Thanks,
Fallgirl

Just drive to Charlotte and fly Jet Blue. It's only an hour and half from here. GSP is too damn expensive.

g-man 430,

I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that. That is what I have to do now. I have the Daytona Beach airport ten minutes from my house, but there are no direct flights and changing in Atlanta takes up the entire day. You could fly to Europe faster. So therefore I have to drive about an hour and a half to Orlando to get Jet Blue. Maybe Greenville will grow so much that Jet Blue will eventually go there !

Thanks,
Fallgirl

Unfortunately for flights from Greenville to JFK you'd have to go through somewhere else. This isn't to say that you can't get a flight cheaper than driving to Charlotte though as I think United goes through Washington and from there you could get a flight to JFK. I use Farecompare.com to watch prices. They currently show a flight from Charlotte to JFK for $183.29 round trip via United for certain dates in October.

Charlotte is only about 1 1/2 hours. The airport is on this side of Charlotte.
