Default Need advice on Greer utilities, companies, etc.

Hello!
Our family is moving to Greer this month and
we have no idea who to contact for all of our utilities.
ex. water, electric, t.v., phone, internet
Are you able to give us the names of these companies?
Also, please let me know if you have an opinion on who has the best service for t.v., home phone and internet. I know where we are from service varies by company.
THANK YOU in advance!!

Most of Greer is covered by Greer Commission of Public Works. Their web site is Greer Commission of Public Works*|*Greer, SC. You could call them and verify that they will be your utility provider. They cover electricity, water, sewer, gas, etc. For tv, we prefer Directv, but if you want cable rather than satellite, you would have Charter Communications. We have our internet through Charter, but only because that is our only option. Some areas will have the option of DSL or U-verse (U-verse would cover your tv, too) through AT&T. Hope that helps!

We have lived in two places that could be considered "Greer."

At the first house, we had a Greer address, but were not in the city of Greer. We had Blue Ridge Rural Water Co. for water and Duke Power for electricity. That house did not have gas. And we had a septic tank. We could have had Charter for cable, but chose DirecTV because we are BIG Green Bay Packer fans and wanted Sunday Ticket. We used BellSouth (now AT&T) for internet.

At the second (current) house, we have a Taylors mailing address but are technically inside Greer City limits. We have electricity, sewer and gas through Greer Commission of Public Works. Water is still through Blue Ridge. And we still have DirecTV for television and AT&T for internet.

The two houses are less than 2 miles apart.

It truly does all depend on where you live.

There are a lot of locations that have a Greer mailing address, but aren't in "Greer proper." The various utilities and services will vary based on address. If you are purchasing a home, ask your realtor. If you are renting, ask your rental agent or landlord.

Depending on your situation, I'd recommend asking the person you're buying the home from, or the leasing office of the apartment your renting. That's certainly the path of least resistance in my opinion.

Sounds great! Thanks everyone.
We are renting for a year before buying to make sure we buy in the area we want...and don't have any regrets.
I have sent an email to the rental agent.
Thanks again!
