Where are the public sandy beaches @ Keowee/Jocassee/etc located to go swimming?

Devil's Fork State Park has a fairly large sandy beach. It is probably larger than normal because of the exceptional drought downstream.

How did you get there from Greenville? When we visited there, we went to a park @ Lake Jocassee. You pass by Lake Keowee with all the homes on the lake and it was about 5-10 miles from there. I wonder what that was called? It had a somewhat sandy area but there were large rocks in it. It had a boat launch and campground. I think that may have been it?

SC Hwy 11 West.... Past Table Rock State Park. Just keep an eye out for the brown sign. As I recall, it's not very far before you get to the road you have to turn onto. Then just keep looking for the brown signs leading you to Devil's Fork SP. You turn a couple of times. It's SO worth it!

Sounds like Devil's Fork to me.

If you drive up SC 11 to get there, stop at the Long Shoals Wayside along the way - neat little sliding rock into a swimming hole. There are also some fishing access spots for Eastatoe Creek that would make good wading spots to cool off near there.

Is there a sign for that? How soon before Devil's Fork?

It's about 6 miles past where SC 11 crosses US 178. Just before Keowee Toxaway State Park. It's on the left side of SC 11 and there is a sign but it is easy to miss. Google Long Shoals Wayside Park Sunset, SC and you will see where it is. Not a destination by itself but if you combine it with other things close to there you could have a fun day.

Default Lake Keowee

You can go to South Cove County Park on Lake Keowee as well. They have picnic tables as well.
