Merrifield Park or Forrester Heights?
We are moving from Sacramento, CA and have had a heck of a time finding a good rental home. The market here is crazy! We have finally found 2 homes that look good and are in desirable locations (I think). One is in Merrifield Park and the other is in Forrester Heights. Any comments on either one of these neighborhoods/areas? We have a 2 yr old and one on the way and I am a stay at home mom. My husband will be working close to both of those areas. I am looking for a family-friendly community that will be easy to meet others. Thanks!

Forrester Heights is a good area that should be zoned for Mauldin schools.

Forrester Heights is zoned for Sara Collins Elementary/Beck Academy/J L Mann
Merrifield Park is zoned for Pelham Road Elementary/Greenville Middle Academy/Eastside High
For the most part, the above schools are all very good to excellent. I don't know anything about Greenville Middle Academy. Of course, there is another thread re J L Mann.

Thanks! I have heard good things about all of these schools which is why we were looking in these areas (along with the fact that they are close to pretty much everything). I am mainly trying to find out if anyone knows specifically about these two neighborhoods and the atmosphere in them, i.e. community activities, neighborhood amenities being used, ease of meeting neighbors, etc. and if they would recommend one over the other for a new family with young children.

Forrester Heights is extremely cookie cutter - all/mostly vinyl siding houses with very small lots/no trees - there is a neighborhood pool. As for meeting neighbors, I would assume that would be easy as the houses nearly touch each other. I know nothing about Merrifield Park.

I had some friends who lived in Merrifield Park and loved it- and they have 5 kids . The only reason they moved was because of a job change. I would prefer the Merrifield Park schools, too.

Forrestor Heights is good if you want to be near CU-ICAR. Merrifield Park, closer to Greenville's traditional eastside, is still in a good area with some gentrification.
