Everyone needs to lighten up a bit. Nobody is being negative, Nancy. Normally posters with new information will provide a source, such as Carolina Knight and even, yes, g-man430 does. Just helps to solidify the information.

I do agree with CK about Food Lion's woes. We do shop there, but the place is never that busy...BiLo and Publix are often much busier. Food Lion's meat selection is fair and their deli and customer services are poor.

Not that I'm expecting Walmart to be a Publix either. A Fresh Market in Simpsonville would be good sometime down the road.

Default 2920 Fork Shoals Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29680-6809

I notice Independence Bancshares Incorporated owns 14.66 acres on the northwest corner of Fork Shoals Road and West Georgia Road. (2920 Fork Shoals Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29680-6809. Greenville County, South Carolina Property Report: PIN/Tax Map #0585010100102. Accessed 2015-01-21.) Greenville First Bank NA owns the corner with 0.367 acres. (2940 Fork Shoals Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29680-6809. Greenville County, South Carolina Property Report: PIN/Tax Map #0585010100104. Accessed 2015-01-21.)

I can see these sites acquired and used for a retail center. Many affluent neighborhoods are opening in this area of West Georgia Road and north and south along Fork Shoals Road. Griffin Park, if construction picks up, would provide a lot of business.

The proposed grocery/service station/pharmacy on West Georgia was approved with stipulations at the January planning meeting.

Default Walmart Neighborhood Market on West Georgia Road: Speculation

Are the stipulations related to the building's design, landscape of the surface area, and the hours of operation?

There are a lot of signs popping up telling people to vote against the zoning for a new Walmart on W. Georgia, which is weird if it was already approved.

Does anyone have a exact location? Not sure why people would be against a grocery store. A superstore, I could understand.

It will be 24/7. Yes, landscaping and site design are pretty much the only stipulations. At no time did the presenter or anyone from city say "Walmart" but it is. If you look at the Hwy 14 site this is going to be an exact match. It will have access from Stenhouse and West Georgia.
There is is also a new subdivision, Longleaf, going in on Stenhouse and Barker Rds. It is planned for 145 lots. Another subdivision will be coming to West Georgia just past the medical center. It had been planned for 2 story homes but they seem to have changed their minds and are now going with a retirement community concept from what I hear. No site plan for it yet.

I'd imagine the signs are coming from Food Lion (there are several of them at the store as well). The new Walmart will have a major impact on their business.

A Walmart Neighborhood Market store would close Food Lion #2212.

Good point about Food Lion and the signs...so weird that they just popped up on Friday afternoon. I think most folks that live that way will welcome a new grocery store, plus it will bring a couple of restaurants/more retail later also I'm sure.

Since LandBroker48 said it would be an exact match as Hwy 14, the parking there is fairly small, so it shouldn't bring much more congestion to that area.
