So, you're telling me they're going to have a 16,000 seat sports-entertainment arena along with a Hyatt and Westin Poinsett? Can't forget about a minor league ballpark, award winning footbridge, Peace Center type concert hall, etc.

yes, we have a semi-professional basketball team coming. And it will probably be winning.
Do the Bombers win?
Lets also keep in mind, the Greenville Braves could only be sustained in Mauldin previoulsy.
Either way, the parks in Mauldin have more attendance for Little League games than the Bombers have at theirs the last I checked.
But nothing but respect to that team b/c they are still trying i'm sure just I know they came here like the 2nd to last in their division.
I prefer Charlotte Bobcats and Panthers games myself. The Greenville Groove & Rhinos already flopped out from existance downtown, don't forget that either. History can easily repeat itself.

Who are the Bombers? Oh yeah, that team that left, oh...two years ago? Just so you know, the new team is the Greenville Drive. They're a single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. And you think downtown can't sustain a baseball team? How about the fact that they've had sell-out crowds since they started playing at West End Field? I think they will do just fine.
Also, how can you say the basketball team in Mauldin will probably win most of their games? Don't get me wrong...I could care less if they win their division or lose it, but that's a pretty bold prediction considering the team isn't even there yet.
The Groove and Rhinos never should have been here in the first place...it's apparent this is a baseball town. We wanted baseball and we got what we wanted. A nice stadium downtown. And the fact that you prefer Bobcats and Panthers games...what the hell does that have to do with anything we're talking about here?

Fans Continue to flock to West End Field. (broken link)
If the Drive continue the same attendance pace the remainder of the season they will draw 337,960, almost 8,000 more than last season even though they will play one less home game due to rain cancellations.
The best the Greenville Braves ever did was 269,525 in 1998.
Hmm, that's funny. I guess Greenville can sustain a team.

that's the name the team was before they became the Drive
and I bet there's a good 100,000 here just like me
But either way. Upstate, SC = a football city. That's why High School sports rakes in WAY MORE than baseball and is sponsored by Visa
men lie.. women lie.. numbers dont

Yes, we're all about some high school football. You don't need to preach about that...I graduated from GHS and completely understand. I don't think that many people are interested in minor league football, though. And by the way...upstate SC = baseball country. Check your history...baseball has been here for a long time. Mill teams, little league, minor league...we've had it all except for a major league team.

Yep. You've done more than your share of that in this forum.
I wish some people would grow up and stop acting like they are still in high school. These arguments you bring in favor of Mauldin over every other town and city in the Upstate are just plain worthless. Show us something accurate that proves your points. At times you sound as though you haven't been living here for years.
