Greenville neighborhoods
Hello Greenville friends! I need your help. We are moving our family to Greenville in November bc of a job transfer. First, any apartment advice around 2k that is nice for a baby and families? Secondly, we will start looking for a home soon to build or remodel. Any suggestions on neighborhoods in the 500k plus range? We want around 1/2 acre ( that's huge for us coming from a big city) and would like to be around younger families. From internet research, Montebello looks nice... But is it too far from the city? Do young families live there? We want to be as close as possible to the downtown scene. I might be asking to much but all suggestions are welcome as we are totally new to Greenville. So excited about our move! Thanks in advance for any advice.

Montebello is not within walking distance of downtown. In your price range have you looked at North Main, Augusta Rd. or Overbrook. Probably won't find 1/2 acre but you can find a decent lot but it would be a older home also. I am not sure about what type of families live in Montebello, but there are some beautiful homes there.

Your housing budget will allow for most anything near downtown Greenville.
My suggestion: forget about Montebello (I don't get the appeal of that subdivision) - agree with the above - look at: North Main, Parkins Mill, Greenville Country Club, Cleveland Park, & Augusta Road areas (all close to downtown Greenville). Note that near downtown Greenville, public schools could be a concern; but, with your budget, your family could purchase a well-maintained home in the Augusta Road area and have $ left for private school.
Good luck and welcome to Greenville!

Great advice. Do young families live in those neighborhoods? Strollers on the streets and baby swings in the front yard? Didn't know if that was possible that close to the city? Again, I'm coming from a large city where that is unheard of. thank you so much for the list of neighborhoods. I really appreciate it.

Yes, there are. Young professionals love downtown as well as people with children. Near Augusta Rd. they have lots of neighborhood get togethers. This would be true for the Cleveland Park area (Parking Mill) area as well. Of course, you will have the older people who have lived there all their life and have no intention of moving.
