Hey, don't get all worked up because someone's opinions don't paint the picture you prefer. The OP asked for input so feel free to contribute instead of being defensive.

Since you're old, I'm sure your kids have had discussed the scene here or if it was a factor in what their first job search after college was. I didn't take it into too much of a consideration and regretted it. Back when the job market was good I had offers from companies in LA, Miami, Akron, Detroit, an Cape Canaveral... And picked Cape Canaveral since the work seemed most interesting... but dang the social life was terrible unless I went to Orlando. But now, married with kids, I didn't really mind Greenville.

Just make a fake account on Match and browse people of your type in various cities if you want a vague idea of the scene. It's like people watching at the mall, but more creepy.

Just pointing out what needs to be pointed out. Call it whatever you want to call it.

I think working and living downtown would make it a lot easier to meet young people here. Go to PULSE to meet younger people involved in Greenville.

You'll be saying "have a gooden" instead of "thank you", just like the covenience store clerks in no time.

As long as the clerks don't call me 'Boss' like they did in Detroit I'll be fine with 'have a gooden'

I've since signed up on OKCupid (and realized I'm turning 27 and not 26... how does that happen?) and I've found a decent amount of matches in my age range. I'm not sure how far you lean to the left, but I'd assume that there's probably an equal amount of people out there for you as there are for me based on what your concerns were. You also have the advantage of being younger and there also being a few colleges nearby. I think you'll be fine and find plenty of people to date.
