Arby's at 1790 Asheville Highway recently closed and will be replaced by Chick-fil-A. (Spartanburg Herald-Journal, 2013-04-13)
This is a curious move to me. I really don't understand a Chick-fil-A in this location. I'd assume a decent lunch crowd, but after hours this area seems to empty out.
Then again, they usually seem to know where to place a restaurant.

Less than a mile from USC Upstate. Fairly close to Wofford too. Can't wait.

I do not think there is an increasing market for roast beef sandwiches. I am not disowning Arby's as they have had good food in the past. Arby's has not done well in recent years, especially its recent time under the Wendy's umbrella.
Chick-fil-A has earned its recognition. They can make a location a location.

I know this place isn't new (been open about a year and a half), but I cannot rave enough about Cuzina Grill on E. Main St. in Spartanburg. I have made a lap around most of their menu, and have not found anything that hasn't been excellent. Their hummus is fantastic, their stuffed grape leaves (dolmathes) are better than those at the Greek Festival, and their meat skewers are always well-seasoned and tender. Don't even get me started about their "Greek" fries - fried in duck fat and seasoned with herbs and parmesan cheese - oh my!
There was a small article in the Herald Journal. I have to admit I'm a bit leary of a bar that says they can make the classics. I have yet to find a bartender in Spartanburg who knows what they are doing. But here's to hoping!

The structure that housed Arby's has been demolished. Arby's marquee by the road remains, still reads "closed for remodeling," and remains to be removed.
Eagle's Liquors, Beers and Wines is opening in the former Pizza Inn on Boiling Springs Road in Boiling Springs.
