Waffle House, like any other eatery, will close units if they are not doing business. The Waffle House unit that closed was not doing business. Promotions like all you can eat waffles Monday through Friday were meant to bring in diners and generate business. Consistent management changes affected business operations. In the end, nothing was able to save the location, and ended up shuttered.

On the flip side, Waffle House has units in highly concentrated population areas that can support enough locations.

Pier 221 Seafood

The website is still up and running.

Looking at its menu, Pier 221 has a great selection of steaks and seafood.

I have never tried any New Orleans or cajun cuisine eateries yet. Back Porch may be a start.

Here's another one (in Greenville) - haven't been yet though. http://fordsoysterhouse.com/ They seem to do well!

I drive by the restuarant every now and again. Looks like the have closed down as I haven't seen any vehicles or lights on in a few weeks.

It's a shame they closed down if that is in fact the case. I've eaten up there a few times and the food was definitely satisfactory.

Aside from Wade's and Corona, I do not know of any quality dine-in restaurants along the I-585/North Pine Street area. Maybe Pier 221's space, formerly Quincy's, may reopen as a buffet.

The Peddler, Mellow Mushroom, Sugar and Spice, Steak Royale and Billy D's are all on Pine St within 2-3 miles of Wades. Ike's Korner Grille is a fantastic greasy dive just off North Pine. Wild Wing Cafe is just off N Pine, and less than 2 miles from Wade's.

Located in Duncan, is this on the northern or southern side of US-29?
