Woodruff Rd is not in that rendering above. That rendering basically taken from the backside of the Shops at Greenridge if that helps.

So if I'm coming from Haywood Mall to Simpsonville and travel on I-385 North, this drawing shows that I have 2 ways to get there. I can take the current route like normal OR I can take that "right" from the fork in the road and it will feed/merge with the (I-85S to I-385N) traffic flow, correct?

If this is correct, is this new road(specifically) being built to handle the traffic flow so traffic won't be backed up on I-385N (towards Simpsonville) in case of an accident/hazard/delay???

Why would you be traveling on I-385 North to get from Haywood Mall to Simpsonville? Did you mean I-385 South?
g-man430, You and Simpsonvillian are right, that was a serious typo! YIKES!!!!!
*facepalm myself as I traveled that route every day from Haywood Road to Simpsonville daily for THREE YEARS. You'd think I'd get the directions right, huh????

The ramp from i85 N to 385N is closed until further notice while crews inspect the ramp bridge support. You can see why in the photo. Images from SCDOT.

A literal instance of "crumbling infrastructure" , as though the constant spray of scree on sections of I85 roadway is not enough!

Good grief - are supports not inspected on a timely basis? Was the support covered with kudzu (like the support in the distance)?

Traveled some of the main roads in the mid and low country last weekend (I26, I20,I95}. Though some areas need widening some kept commenting on how much better the road surfaces were than I85.

Sunday update on the ramp:

Repair materials will arrive Monday.

Planning to re-open the ramp to cars ONLY before Monday morning (June 20) rush hour.

NO TRUCKS (or vehicles with more then 2 axles) allowed on this ramp until repairs are complete.

Edit: Don't worry...this entire bridge/ramp gets replaced during this 85/385 interchange project. Just need it to last a little longer...

i have never seen any issue with 85 between Mauldin road or so and the SC - GA state border. i don't know how it could be any smoother. That is like 30-40 miles of interstate.

the main issue with 85 is as you approach Woodruff which they have not paved for some reason after paving a stretch approaching Laurens. There is also some pitting on some of the entrance/exit ramps.

I-26 through the Irmo area is the worst interstate surface that I've encountered in the state outside of the portion of 85-N approaching Woodruff Rd.
