at&t has better LTE than Verizon and has HSPA+ as fall back which still gets you around 5 to 10 Mbps down. We had to wait a little longer to get it, but at&t's got the best data network point blank.
Taken at Main St and McBee, at&t's LTE is widely accepted by the tech community as being superior to Verizon's but not as widely available along with not having to fall back to old 3g like Verizon when you lose the signal. Do quick google search on at&t vs Verizon LTE. BTW you can always do a few screen shots of speedtests to prove me wrong.

Yep, but the thing is; LTE for Verizon is almost everywhere. I never drop LTE, I travel to Greenwood weekly. They even have Verizon LTE. Google all you want. Verizon pioneered LTE.
With ATT LTE being in the area, you can grab one of those super-fast awesome Nexus 4 phones for $299 (no contract). Then sign up with Walmart's Straight Talk system (which uses the AT&T LTE network) for $45 unlimited talk, text and web/data.
Some folks have reported that after 2GB of data you may get throttled back, but some have report no throttling whatsovever.
The Nexus 4 is sold out right now, but they should be back in stock before the end of the year.
I'm a Sprint user (boo!), from my understanding Verizion's LTE nationally is faster than at&t's system.
But from my previous post, if Sprint doesn't get it's act together soon, when my contract runs out I'll go with Straight Talk or T-mobile for either LTE or 4G.
BTW, the Nexus 4 I mentioned above also works with T-Mobile. T-Mobile has a great plan that is $30 a month for 100 anytime minutes, unlimited texting, and unlimited data (with the first 5GB per month at 4G HSPA+ speeds).
If you use more than 100 minutes of voice a month, don't fret...there are ways around that, such as Google Talk, etc...
Originally they hid it and said it wasn't, but they just announced that it actually is. I doubt very many new phones coming out now won't have it. Especially Android who now has 75 percent of the smart phone market share.
The bottom line is speed only matters as long as you can get the service, and AT&T has the worst coverage of almost any provider. LTE is great and all when you're sitting in one spot that actually has it but with AT&T there are tons of areas where you can't get service *at all* much less LTE, not to mention with their limits + LTE you'll pretty much run out of data in 5-10 minutes.
