The Fair Play community in Oconee County may get a nice big development, currently touted as Sanctuary Pointe, on Lake Hartwell featuring hotels, a championship golf course and marina.

Massive development proposed on Lake Hartwell | Anderson - WYFF Home

The location in question appears to be at I-85 and SC-11 (exit 1).

Last I heard, the marina was out, but everything else was still on.... Which is good, since an existing marina is less than a mile away! Other than that, I hope this happens. Give ol' Lake Lanier Islands a run for its money, and draw good development and needed jobs to that area.

I would like to see one more major development come to Fair Play to really bolster the area.

As for the lodging planned, I wonder what type of hotels would be considered. An asthetically pleasing mid-rise height hotel on the lake would be nice.

This proposal has been around since 2009, if not earlier. The original announcement alluded to the potential for 400 to 1400 jobs generated by the resort. Adequate funding was not available at that time, so the project could not move forward. I wonder if this development will impact the plans for Keowee River, assuming that development is still alive.

This is true, but there's been a lot more talk around the lake about the potential development (both pro & con) that ever this year. Seems like something may be afoot!
