Apparently both Montgomery Ward and The Sports Authority will be demolished to build a new Cabela's and another "sea" of surface parking.

Personally, not a huge Gander Mountain fan. They seem a little "also ran" and behind Cabela's to me, but just my two cents. Somewhat along the same topic.....I do know that Golfsmith has it's eyes on the Greenville market for a store, which I believe would be the first in SC.

We had Gander Mountain about 10 minutes from our old house in Ohio, That place was way overpriced and the selection was horrble! The gun I was looking at was over $100 more at Gander than at Cabelas or the local gun range. I don't think Gander would ever consider building near a Cabelas, it would be suicide!

No stranger, in my opinion, than to have Sam's Club, Target, Costco, and Wal-Mart within less than 2 miles of each other. Then again, gas stations on 3-4 corners of an intersection seem to do alright, as do Rite-Aid, Walgreens, and CVS clustered together.

I would definitely love to see a Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy come in. Both could probably do pretty well in the revamped magnolia park.

A Martins would be amazing but this area definitely doesn't have the market to sustain one.

I don't think so.

-Cabela's is more about hunting and fishing with a bit of camping thrown in....and some random athletic stuff.

-REI's is more about nature sporting...ie hiking, camping, kayaking, biking. I don't think they sell guns at all.

-Dicks and Academy Sports...yes, pretty much the same, a bit of everything, team sports, clothing, hunting, camping, etc.

You could wak into a Cabelas store buck naked and come out ready to hunt, fish, hike or go camping. I do not see any of the others coming close to that level of service.
