Not sure how they got approval to shut down an entire interstate that tax payers put $11 million towards for a tv show. Could you imagine if this happened on I-85?
Thats a very good point. The local media should be all over this asking these questions.

It's really not that unusual for a tv/movie production to get permission to shutdown highways or roads. I guess the producer scouted the least travelled highway they could find that would lead to the least disruption. A-la I-185.

exactly. It's ridiculous to compare the connector to 85 or 385. It was chosen, because of the minimal disruption. Not too many roads around like this one.
Seriously! I got that email. Who in the eWorld came up with the statement that this road makes 20k per day? I would be in shock! There's hardly any traffic on it when I use it.
I wish I had gotten an email. I live on 153 right off the toll road, have a pass for the road and use it everyday but I had to hunt to find any information about this. Obviously I saw the signs on I-85 that it would be closed. So what is the best way to get from Powdersville to downtown Greenville if you are not taking the section of I 185 from Exit 12 to downtown? Will the exit going to downtown from 85 be closed or only heading towards Simpsonville? Either way I will have to make a lot of left hand turns on 153 at exit 40 off of 85, yuck.
Oh and this is not unusual at all my parents worked in the movie industry for 20 years and they closed roads bridges etc... all over Atlanta, the rest of Georgia, Charleston, New York, Ireland etc... basically everywhere they filmed.

20k a day is what the road operators told the producers so they can make more money. Doubt if the producers questioned it.
According to the following link, the weekly total revenue for the latest week shown (March 10-16) was $136,707. Most of the days had 10,000 to 13,000 transactions a day. $60,000 is probably a fair rate for almost half a week.

Interesting data. ~135k/week seems not too terrible.
