Just noticed a large excavator and new silt fencing on the property next to Cvs on W. Georgia Rd in Simpsonville. Any clue if there is a new project in the works or are they just clearing the land to make it more attractive to developers?
Would this be on the northeast corner of West Georgia Road and Neely Ferry Road?
If this is a large parcel of minimally 20 acres heading east toward Blakely Road, Grandview Drive and Interstate 385, I would imagine something major will occupy the site very soon.

I believe so, not sure on the size of the parcel though. I'm hoping it will be something good and not a fast food place!
If 20 to 30 acres is enough for something in the form of an 80,000 square foot supermarket with a convenience store, it would be obvious someone is proceeding in activity and Food Lion's days would be numbered.
I saw an excavator sitting in the small parcel on the corner of the shopping center at NF and W Georgia (near where the ATM machine was). The parcel is sized more for a fast food place in my opinion.
Edit: Got to thinking about that space, would it be large enough for the proposed Red Lobster?
A fast food eatery should be about 4,000 square feet. Red Lobster eateries are usually twice the size.
If West Georgia Road has more commercial and dining interests like Fairview Road, I could see Red Lobster locating along the road. I do not see that yet as West Georgia Road needs to step beyond residential interests. I would not be surprised to see fast food, i.e. McDonald's, open up.
As for my initial thought, I was thinking Ingle's. The parcel now specified to a small tract eliminates that thought for now.
I truly hope it is not fast food or another gas station, we need some better quality food options/businesses in this area. The gas station across the street is already a hangout for booming stereos and foul mouthed idiots, we don't need another place for them to congregate! I love our area, but it seems that all we attract are fast food joints, gas stations, and an enormous amount of Mexican restaurants.

QuikTrip did look at a location at SC-417 and I-385 for a store, which became Spinx instead. I assume QuikTrip has continued searching the area for a future location. West Georgia Road can be a possibility for QuikTrip and anyone else.
I really wish a nice gas station would locate in Ft. Inn. I hate using the dirty run down ones here. If I can I'll drive to Harrison Bridge rd to the hickory point.
