Our son and fiance live in Greenville. We will be there mid - end of November, then on the road, and back again for good mid-end January. We will be looking for a sublet or rental. We are retired. My dh is 65, and I am 50, married 30 years. We are excited about our new adventure.

We have no idea. Our son and fiancé live in a condo in Downtown Greenville. Ideally, we would like to find a 6 month sublet or rental in the downtown area. Furnished would be even better, but, know that may not be possible. I like the rentals that Southland Properties offers downtown, but, do not know if they will do a short term rental. Worst case scenario is we will need to take on a one year lease. Our son and soon to be wife may be headed to Europe for a few years come July 2014, and the plan is for us to live in their place. This is why we would like to find a short term rental. I am aware some of the apartments offer this. We will do some inquiring while there in November for 2 weeks. Thank you for the welcome. We look forward to meeting new people and being involved in the community. I will be in Greenville next Fri-Mon to meet my soon to be daughter-in-laws mother and going wedding dress shopping. They will be married downtown in June.

I dont' know much about the downtown rental scene because I am on a lower budget.

You could possibly look at renting an older condos like Ingleside on Pelham Road which is near Haywood Road and the big mall as well as the interstate into downtown. I don't know if short term condo rental will be a possiblity but you never know in this housing market.

I stayed in this extended stay place in Simpsonville called Value Place for a week for just over 200 dollars and it was furnished. I guess that could work for you if you are willing to pay a little more and not have to go into a lease contract.

Thank you! I really appreciate your input. Ideally, we would like to stay under $1000 per month. I know that may not be possible for a short term lease. It will be interesting to see how it all works out. I am looking forward to NOT being a homeowner for a while, LOL!!
