Headed to Spartanburg now and looking for a good place to eat lunch. Hopefully somewhere near Westgate and Costco. Thanks

Are you looking for a specific type of food? There are several burger/hot dog places nearby. A lot of people love Holmes Hot Dogs, which is just north of the mall on Blackstock. My favorite hot dog joint is Ricky's West, which is a mile or two south of the mall on Blackstock. Jake's Wayback Burger at the corner of Blackstock and Reidville Rd is also good (south of the mall). Apollo's Pizza is a good Greek/Italian place on 29 just west of the mall. Most of the chain restaurants are around the mall as well (Applebee's, Red Lobster, Golden Corral, Jason's Deli, Olive Garden, O'Charlies, Panera, Ruby Tuesdays, Long Horn, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chipotle, Fuddruckers, Zaxby's, Outback). If by "good" you mean more upscale, there's a City Range steakhouse practically in the parking lot of Costco and a Brazilian steakhouse south of the mall on Blackstock. I believe Shogun's Japanese Steakhouse is open for lunch as well. If you want the real greasy spoon experience, you won't be too far from The Beacon.

Holmes was great! As soon as I walked in I could tell they had been around awhile, it just had that feeling. As I ate I noticed the dining room attendant had on a shirt that said est 1953! My dogs were good and the crinkle cut fries were awesome. The cashier was really nice. I bought a weiner for my dog and she cut jokes about having the weiner cut up for the dog. I told her we were from out of town and she wanted to know how we found them! I told her an internet forum because my business phone rang as we were talking. She was too busy to chat with when we left.

Hopefully next time I wont be so rushed and can make the drive to Ricky's West or try one of your other suggestions.

Thanks again!

I like Wade's.. there was another bar type place that we used to go to for lunch fairly often over there.. It's a little hole in the wall place, and without question when you walk out the door, you'll smell like grease.. But the food was pretty good..

Beacon is what it is.. You'll find people who love it and people who hate it.. I fall into the latter category there.

Ike's.. That's what I'm thinking of.. To me.. It really was a good place, but.. It's like a once a year place, because you'll need your arteries roto-rootered after you eat there..

Ike's is good. Is Holmes still in the same place?
