What are the best locations, or organizations, to find a date in the area? I'm a 27 male looking for a woman my age. Don't like going to bars or clubs and the dating sites are so-so and greedy (I wouldn't mind paying for a month, but do you think anyone you contact will contact back??? Probably not and end up wasting $$$)

Have you looked at meetup.com? I see about a hundred meet ups in the Greenville area ... there are outdoorsy type groups, spiritual groups, age-specific groups, wine and drinking groups, various other special interest groups.

Meetup.com is a great idea and plentyoffish.com is a free dating website. What are your interests? Maybe take a class like dancing, painting, whatever you like. Good luck!

Thanks. I'm registered both on Christian Mingle and PlentyOfFish. Again no matter who I try to contact, either I get nothing or just one message (funny how most of them mention in their profile they're willing to meet anyone!) It gets soo annoying at one point you see how much these dating sites charge to use their services and then I say to myself "do I really want to pay $20/month just to talk to people that may or may not reply back???" Sounds like a waste of money to me!

Meetup.com has some good club ideas for me to join as a way to meet new friends and find a new hobby for me, but I really don't think the majority of them will work for dating.

I think it's best for me to meet singles in person instead of a dating site, that way I can have the time to really show who I am instead of someone just downright ignoring me for personal preferences. That's why I was asking if there was any meeting for singles like speed dating, singles groups, etc. I'm not in a big rush, but i'm not trying to make a mistake at the same time.

If you are interested in outdoor activities, I will put in a vote for that type of meet up. I met my husband on a hike a long time ago, and the group we met through has had many marriages result.

Dating sites are about dating, or finding a so-called "soul mate", or finding a spouse. Shared interest groups are about interests and values. My advice is: shelve the notion of "finding someone" and put your energies into finding people in general who share your values and interests, both male and female. Stop focusing on the end game and enjoy the journey.

I haven't seen a mention of shared values or interests on your part in what you've written, but rather a focus on the best strategies and places for finding The Right Person. Think about it ...

I'm moving to the area in the spring and meeting new people both for friendship and dating was something I was concerned about. My passion is my dogs and finding people that share a mutual interest in animal rescue and love for their animals is what I'm looking for. I've already found some great meet up groups and it seems that the Grrenville Humane Society has some great volunteer opportunities to maybe meet like minded people. I can't wait to move and seek out new opportunity. Find your passion and join groups or volunteer places to meet people that share your interests. Meet people naturally....
