If you buy the "lifetime warranty" crap brakes from Autozone/Advance, you're still paying the labor costs to put them on, which will be significantly more than the cost of the pads.. And then you'll be paying it again much sooner than you should be.
Remember Tommy Boy? "If you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will.. I got spare time. But for now, for your family's sake, you might want to consider buying a quality product from me."
I'd recommend learning how to replace the pads yourself. Front disc brake pads on most cars take about 30 minutes to do once you know how to do them. It really isn't much harder than changing your oil.
WN Watson in downtown is one of the first honest mechanics I've found in a long time. They charge reasonably, are quick, and nice. Try calling them for a quote.
I know a mechanic who does work on the side on the weekends. He just did the front brake pads on my truck for $40 labor. He's off Pleasantburg in Cherrydale. I can PM the name and number if anyone wants it.
don't wait too long or you'll also be replacing rotors! I get mine done for a little over $100/per axle at Kellett's in Mauldin. I have a small car; it will cost slightly more for bigger cars.
Thanks for the recommendations, I really appreciate it. This gives me a good list to work from.
Labonte18: Ha ha, I love that movie!
VolstuckinNC: I absolutely agree with you on this one. I wish I had learned this skill when I was younger... but even now I would love to learn how to, at least, replace the front brakes. Maybe if I learn, then I can in turn, teach my son.
beckycat: Yes, I would appreciate the contact info. Thanks
I had brakes done at WN Watson on West Broad and I am very please.
