Some areas of the country are known for high pollen counts in spring and fall. Is upstate S. Carolina one of those areas? Is there much ragweed? (my nemesis!)
One of the worst areas in the country. Look it up. The mountains create a bowl around the area that holds the pollen in. As someone who only had minor allergies before moving here 3yrs ago its now so bad I have to use an inhaler at times.
All I can say is we moved there during month of April in 2007 for a bit more than a year & had huge problems with allergies that we never had living in NY or Florida. Only lasted during that time for both Aprils that we were there in 07 & 08.
I read in some magazine ranking that Greenville was the worst in the country for pollen. I can't vouch for number 1, but it is very bad here. Sometimes in the spring, when it rains, you see the runoff ditches flowing with bright yellow water from the pollen washing away.
Last year I had to get a steroid shot to stop an unbearable allergic reaction. From then on I've been mowing the lawn with a dust mask on.

I take an allergy pill every day between March and May/June. The rest of the year is fine.
My boss takes allergy pills every day of the year.
Oye!! Our last job search included interviewing in Louisville Kentucky. THEY claimed the worst pollen counts in the country. So sad that green and lovely has to include allergens!
Not according to data compiled by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). Greenville doesn't even make the top 10. According to the 2014 AAFA list of Spring Allergy Capitals - "the 100 most challenging places to live with allergies" - Greenville comes in at number 46 (although it was in 19th place last year).
