Parkins Mill would be ok but I prefer something a little newer and that seems like older area.
It is an older area but lots of very nice older homes. However, I don't know if it is really the area you are looking for given your criteria.

Offtopic question - what are you doing at Fluor? I heard they have been steadily laying people off for roughly four years now.

That same rumor has been going on for years . Many departments are actually hiring right now at Fluor (we just brought a few people in this in my department). And, just 2 years ago we were short so many positions we held a huge all-day career fair and hired people during that time period too.

Fluor does engineering & construction - nearly all of the companies in the same industry in this area see the same thing happen with the ups and downs. When the economy stalled several years back, lots of the engineering companies had layoffs as projects got paused or killed. Since then though, things have been pretty steady - not peaking where they were during the "boom" but not steadily downhill or anything either.

Certain sectors or business lines serving certain industries are down but others are up. From a total employees standpoint in Greenville, I'd be surprised if we haven't been at least net-neutral or higher for the past 4 years.

False rumors. Don't believe everything you hear.
