Harris Teeter will add locations in the Greenville County area and the upstate South Carolina region. I do not expect it to open stores in small towns or rural communities. Kroger would need to acquire an existing chain to infill quickly without the expenses of building many new stores. The speculation of Kroger ready to acquire another chain is warm.

Default Aldi Opening Store at South Pleasantburg Drive and Chalmers Road in Greenville, South Carolina

I made a mention in the thread "Greer, South Carolina Retail" on Sunday, 25 January 2015 in regards to discount grocer Aldi owning property at South Pleasantburg Drive and Chalmers Road in Greenville for a new store:

It is unknown when Aldi will open a store at this site.
WORD (WYRD-FM) 106.3 reported this morning Aldi is proceeding in constructing the store for an opening later this year.

One of the empty areas around Pleasantburg @Chalmers , although I'm surprised that the former Bloom cannot be used.

Default Aldi #78, South Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, South Carolina

Aldi has owned the property at the southeast corner of South Pleasantburg Drive and Chalmers Road for several years. After the announcement of stores #93 (Greer) and #94 (Boiling Springs, Spartanburg County), I doubt it would take long to announce store #78.

The site at 1332 South Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29605-1331 is still a good location for the supermarket. Bloom #2700/Food Lion #2207 failed in its trade area through bad decisions and not enough business. Nine other stores across the upstate South Carolina region met similar fates. The acquisition of several parcels north of Augusta Road and South Plesantburg Drive and around Traynham Street and the demolition of the former Bloom #2700/Food Lion #2207 could allow room for a retail center with a supermarket and some high density residential development.

Simpsonville is a trade area that Aldi could add a store in the Greenville County market. Aldi does not own any property in the cities of Simpsonville and Fountain Inn.
