It appeared the grocery tenant in the rendering looked like a Harris Teeter.
This is the same site The Fresh Market had interest in several years ago for its Woodruff Road store. Opposition to retail development next to Graceland East Memorial Gardens killed the idea. The Fresh Market is progressing with its store at Woodruff Road and Feaster Road. ("Fresh Market 2 in Greenville.")
The intersection of Woodruff Road and South Carolina Highway 14 has not been a good location for supermarkets. Winn Dixie #1273, previously located in Maxwell Point, Greenville, South Carolina 29607-5934, closed in 2000 when Bi-Lo and Publix had locations both west and east of itself.

That's a big retail center, where the heck would they be putting it. Would it take over something else, because they said in the report near and across from graceland and I just don't see where.
It is the same corner as Graceland and it is Harris Teeter The vacant property bordering Woodruff and 14 is not part of or owned by the cemetery apparently.
Don't see why they don't work with the developer and do something nice. That property is too valuable to sit empty. Something will eventually get built there. Neighbors organizing to fight development next to cemetery
2204 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29681-5438: Speculation of a Harris Teeter
Here is a site plan of the proposed retail development at 2204 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29681-5438 from The Greenville News:
The grocery tenant would occupy a 53,000 square feet space. The undisclosed service area will be for trucks making deliveries.
A main access road would separate the proposed retail development from Graceland East Memorial Gardens. The existing main access points into the cemetary from Woodruff Road and South Carolina Highway 14 would be removed.
Speculation of The Kroger Company possibly acquiring Bi-Lo Holdings is silent presently.
The finalization of Albertson's acquisition of Safeway recently unified the second and third largest supermarket chains in the United States. (Safeway-Albertsons Merger | Supermarket News)

Well not necessarily. There was an article in the Jacksonville, Fla. newspaper recently that strongly suggested that a Kroger acquisition of Bi-Lo/Winn Dixie was imminent. But you are correct they are being very secretive about it if a takeover is under consideration.
Despite this zoning issue, it nevertheless appears that Harris Teeter is planning additional locations in the Upstate along with Lewis Plaza.
Something lit Teeters fire here. They must have not been happy when BI-LO sold those Charlotte stores to Publix speeding up Publix entry into Charlotte. I am glad they are coming back. I like them as much as Publix.
