You sir, are an evil being who will come to no good end. I was hoping to keep the digital drool to a minimum and now the thread's getting all soggy.

Are we referring to delicatessens around here? If so, make sure you have the necessities of fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy to go around. Southern state delicatessens are far different than northeastern state delicatessens.

I believe we call those "Meat and 3's" around these parts, Carolina. You're probably not gonna get good tongue in a "Southern Deli", unless you've got a pretty darned accommodating server....LOL

I don't know what it is about this place that lacks more diverse foods. I guess there just isn't enough people from other places to open these resturants?
The best deli I've found in the area is Pelham Falls Deli (down Pelham, at the intersection of 14) - their Italian Stallion sub is amazing (unfortunately, this is a significant drive from TR for you Saucy). Rick Erwins has a new deli downtown (never been). As an aside, has anyone tried Sully's Steamers in downtown Greenville? It has great reviews - interesting concept (I think I see franchise opportunities in the future)

The Raleigh metro has a disproportionate number of transplants from the Northeast (compared to Greenville) - but, of all cities I've moved to, I've never seen so many Ohio transplants - they're everywhere here - I've been told South Carolina (esp Charleston) is the second capital of Ohio. (These are my observations and in no way scientific.) However, if you want to see a lot of Northeast transplants in the Upstate, go to Keowee Key

I love Sully's - they have a huge variety of menu options, so I have a number of favorites. They have developed a few new items that have turned out to be hits - the Nacho Maximus and Griswold.

If anyone finds the cheesesteak, let me know where you found it, then join me in my hunt for a nice buffalo chicken pizza.

We really love Sully's Steamers downtown, too. Very delicious steaming hot bagel sandwiches with tons of toppings. I've tried a few, mostly in the vein of a jalapeno bagel with some variation of turkey, bacon, and various cheeses on top. YUM!
