Hi,

I am looking at a rental on Sumner Street in Greenville. Is this a good area? Or is it somewhere that is very sketchy?
I looked at the crime map and there were a couple of robberies around there in the past 6 months, but I kind of expect that near downtown.......is it somewhere anyone here would feel safe living at?

Thanks!

You are right at Saint Francis Downtown medical campus. It is a safer area than Green Avenue and Greater Sullivan areas.

I have friends in that area. The part of the street between Pendleton St. and St. Francis is pretty decent.

Another question - how is Washington Heights? I went down Sumner Street today and it looked okay, but the Washington Heights neighborhood looked very nice. It is kind of surrounded by iffy seeming places, some run down looking buildings...the area is going through a revitalization, I do know that. Is it safe? Anyone live there? A house that cheap might be something I can actually look into purchasing.

Default Washington Heights and Nicholtown

I would shy away from Washington Heights and Nicholtown. That area has been a ghetto project. If you are looking for a nice area off Laurens Road, I would try looking around Gower Estates and Parkins Mill Road.
